Future film career?

I went to Gateway last Tuesday for the CAM's Inyorai Video Festival. Laman-loob was selected as a finalist for the festival. It was Laman Loob's first recognition and my first recognition as a film actor. Film actor? Why you ask. I portrayed a supporting role for a short film last year. Check out my older entries.

C'mon, that acting stint was recognized by a film organization. I didn't expect that my small acting stint will bring me to an award show. It was not as big as the Oscar's nor the MMFF but awards are still awards. di ba?

Basically, I went there to see my face in the big screen in Gateway. My camwhoring days are over (?) and I was hoping that I'll see myself acting in front of a movie screen. I love my self, sobra. Pero normally, I don't like to see myself on that film and even worse acting. I watched Laman-loob only twice out of the endless screenings in family reunions etc.

But too bad it was not screened in Gateway dahil di pumayag ang MTRCB. There were some "sensitive" scenes kasi on the other nominees, so they scrapped all the films from the big screen.

But the awarding ceremony still kicked off. Laman-loob was nominated on all the awards on the Narrative Short Feature Category including Best performance and Best Short Film. We weren't able to scrap those two awards but still the film won two awards both from Best Screenplay and Best Director for Ate Liar. The funny thing was I was nominated in a way for best performance. WTF?

The good thing is that Laman-loob was recognized. So, what's next on my "supposed" film career? Wala. Haha.

That may be my first and last film award ceremony. But who knows? Oscars may come next.hehe.

Bureaucracy at its "finest"

Last tuesday I was invited by Stand UP to run as journalism council representative with their party. I was really shock by that invitation. The idea of running in the student council election had longed been inside my mind. Ever since I got into UP, the idea of a student-leader has been one of my goals.

But I decided not to accept their invitation due to the following reasons. One, I was invited to run on the day which was also the last day of filing for candidacy. I was disappointed with the fact that they had only invited me due to sheer desperation. Their line up was not complete and they saw me only as a "fill-up" or a pandagdag. They didn't even bother to check who I am. Parang, they only went out to the street, picked a stranger and told him that he should serve the people. It was not about leadership but about beating the other party. It was really disappointing considering that most of the UP officials are from their party.

"Parang nakita ko tuloy na...they are not after serving the people and being good leaders but gaining the majority of the supposedly positions." For me, council elections is a big crap.

Two, I have been very busy these days. I've been very active in the pursuance of academic excellence which I think is really paying off. Also, I added AIESEC to my list as (possible, since I'm still applying) organizations.

AIESEC defines work really well. If you really want to work, AIESEC can be an option. But AIESEC works are really rewarding.

Yesterday, I, along with Cara, Iara, Jed and Tanya, went to the Bureau of Immigration for the apps' internship work. It was my first time to be in Bureau of Immigration and it was only then that I knew that their office was in Intramuros. In BI, it shows the current situation in Philippine bureaucracy. Even in the millenium age, government offices still lack computer sets for processing. And also, I noticed that in regular processing of visa, for example, will take you two weeks. But if you add like a thousand pesos, you can get it for 30 mins. Wala lang. Nakakalungkot lang isipin.

Actually, number 1 is half true.

I've been busy this days. I don't want to blabber about how busy I am. It just makes me think on things that I still need to do.

Chronicles of Narnia: The LazyBoy Experience

It was really cool that I had watched The Chronicles of Narnia at the new Globe Platinum Cinema at the Gateway Cineplex last night. They have a big screen much like an IMAX screen and 40 lazy boy seats.

It was my first time to watch on the Globe Platinum Cinema and I really enjoyed watching there. It costs P300 ($6.00) for one time screening. It is expensive compared to the normal P120-150 ticket in other cinemas. But I mean, for unlimited popcorn and drinks and the comfy lazy boy seats, you don't want the movie to stop.

I had enjoyed watching Narnia. I think I'll read the other books.

Clean UP

I've become a clean freak.

I started 2006 cleaning. I woke up on Jan.1 with the desire to clean our bathroom. This was the bathroom that me and my two sisters uses. The bathroom was really gross before. It has lots of cobwebs, some dirt that I didn't know how it get there, old toothbrushes, lots of half used papaya soaps, empty bottles etc.
It was wilder than the zoo.

I was challenge as I cleaned it up in 2 hours. hehe. But now, It's squeaky clean.

I targeted my computer next. It has lots of unused programs, spywares, adwares. Hehe. Now, it's clean (I think).
